Other Publishing Applications

Many applications that output PDF files will automatically embed the fonts in the document, but sometimes it is necessary to explicitly tell the application to do so. This is often done through a checkbox somewhere in the “export” or “save as” options, however the procedure for this is application specific, so you will need to consult the authoring program’s help documentation for more information.

However, you can standardize across all applications by using the Adobe® PDF print driver to create your PDFs.

1-Highlight.jpg Step 1

In your application, go to File > Print and select the Adobe® PDF “printer.” Click on Properties.

2-highlight.jpg Step 2

On the Layout tab, click the Advanced... button.

3-Highlight.jpg Step 3

Change the TrueType font to "Download as Softfont"and Postscript Output Option to "Optimize for Portability." Click OK.

4-highlight.jpg Step 4

Click on the Adobe PDF Settings tab. Across from the Default Settings, click Edit.

5-highlight.jpg Step 5

Choose the Fonts folder on the left and check "Embed all fonts" and uncheck the "Subset embedded fonts..." option.

Click OK and save the Adobe® PDF Setting as "Standard-KeepTrees.joboptions".
